How to properly care for your swimsuit to make it last

" A well-maintained swimsuit is a swimsuit that lasts for several summers. "

Chlorine, salt, sunscreen, sand... swimsuits take a lot of abuse in a single season. Yet, a few simple steps are enough to preserve their shape, colors, and elasticity for much longer.

Rinse immediately after each swim

Pool chlorine and sea salt damage elastic fibers if left in prolonged contact with the fabric. Rinsing with cold, clear water immediately after exiting the water significantly limits wear and tear.

Always hand wash in cold water

Washing machines and hot water are the two enemies of swimwear: they relax the fibers and dull the colors. All our PINUA models, made from OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified Italian fabric, should be hand washed in cold water.

Never tumble dry

The heat from the tumble dryer destroys the elastane in the composition (80% polyamide, 20% elastane for our models). Flat drying in the shade preserves both the shape and the vibrancy of the colors — essential for our reversible colors.

Be careful with sunscreens and abrasive surfaces

Some sunscreens, especially very oily ones, can leave stains on light fabrics. Allow the cream to dry before putting on your swimsuit, and avoid sitting directly on rough surfaces (rocks, raw wood) that can snag the fibers.

Alternate multiple swimsuits

Wearing the same swimsuit every day wears it out faster. Since each PINUA model is reversible, simply flip it inside out to change your style without changing pieces — a good way to naturally space out wear between washes.
