The Basque origin of the names PINUA: Ferret, Ametsa, Arrosa...

"Every name tells a story, every word carries a place or an emotion."

At PINUA, nothing is chosen by chance—not even the names of our models. From Basque words to emblematic Atlantic coast locations, each name tells a little bit of our story. Here's the breakdown.

AMETSA, our foundational collection

« Ametsa » means dream in Basque. A name chosen as a symbol: our very first collection was born from a dream come true, driven by our two founders.

Our reversible colors, between Basque words and emotions

Arrosa & Baso: « Arrosa » means pink, « Baso » means forest — a duo that evokes the softness of a sunset over the Atlantic forests.

Argi & Zeru: « Argi » means light, « Zeru » means sky — the sparkle of seashells and the depth of the ocean combined.

Izar & Duna: « Izar » means star in Basque — associated with the dune, it evokes the warmth of sandy landscapes under a starry sky.

Our models, a tribute to the Atlantic coast

Each cut bears the name of a place dear to us:

Ferret, in reference to Cap Ferret, a symbol of escape and chic simplicity.

Pyla, for Pyla-sur-Mer, a jewel of the coast where our very first photoshoot took place.

Arca, for Arcachon, between dunes and the bay.

Soorts, for Soorts-Hossegor, a surfing mecca.

Bisca, for Biscarrosse, between lakes and the ocean.

Pignada, for the Pignada forest, near Anglet.

Luz, for Saint-Jean-de-Luz, a town of light and refinement.

#UhainaFamily: the PINUA community

« Uhaina » means wave in Basque. This is the name we gave to our community: all those who wear and share the PINUA universe.
